The cause of all problems?

Have you ever wondered what is the cause of all problems - individual as well as social problems? Since society is merely a group of people woven together through thread of relationships of many kind, in understanding of personal problems, one might understand social problems as well.

Let's discuss core problems of an individual. The individual can have physical problems or psychological problems. Probably, every individual problem will go into one of the either bucket. Physical problems are caused due to society or environment where one lives along with one's own lifestyle. Leaving the former problems caused due to society, let's take the later into the account, for lifestyle is in one's own hand. Lifestyle being the expression of one's psyche, the physical problems cause due to lifestyle is eventually reduced to psychological problems. So, we arrive at psychological problems being the pivot of our discussion.

Lust, anger, greed, fear, sorrow, etc. are make for psychological problems. Lust is aggressive desire for more; anger is an action brings about in absence of fulfillment of lust & fear is opposition to detachment. If one actually sees, one should find all these qualities are eventually rooted in attachments. Moreover, If one inquires about the source of attachment, one would find its source being in incompleteness that's apparently inherent in man. If one would be complete in oneself, one wouldn't have aspired oneself to escape by the objects separate from one & hold onto it. Holding on to an object for self perpetuation is what goes by the name attachment.

So, hereby, we arrive at the absence of completeness is the root cause of individual problems & because collective individuals with their psychological framework makes for a society, the same also becomes the cause of social problems as well. I would like to end by the following poem of Aurobindo,
Earth shall be made a home of Heaven’s light,
A seer heaven-born shall lodge in human breasts;
The superconscient beam shall touch men’s eyes
And the truth-conscious world come down to earth
Invading Matter with the Spirit’s ray,
Awaking its silence to immortal thoughts,
Awaking the dumb heart to the living Word.
(Savitri: Book VI, Canto II, p 451)
May all we be complete!
